Pooja Iranna is one of the prominent figures in the contemporary Indian Art scene. Born to the very famous artists, Rameshwar and Shobha Broota in 1969 in New Delhi, Pooja has refined her instinct for art by studying at Delhi College of Art from where she received her BFA and MFA in Painting. She is married to the very famous artists G R Iranna. She was among the Twenty Shortlisted for Skoda Prize 2010. She was also the Celeste Prize Finalist for Video ‘Another new beginning’ in 2010. Besides, she received ‘Outstanding Women Achievers Award by YFLO in 2009; The Charles Wallace India Trust Award, 2002; the Junior Fellowship & HRD Scholarship by the Government of India during 1998-99 and 1992-95 respectively. Pooja has written numerous features and reviews for various publications. She has taken part in several national and international exhibitions, workshops, artists’ camps and residencies. Among her noteworthy shows are ‘In the Waves and Underneath’, Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi; ‘Of Human Endeavor’, The Guild, Mumbai; ‘Invisible Cities’, Aicon Gallery, New York; ‘The Landscapes of Where’, curated by Nancy Adajania for Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai, amongst others. Pooja Iranna will talk about her works during her visit at the Festival.
