He sits in his studio with small colourful blocks of perhaps every colour strewn across the room. A half done image of an eye awaits more blocks to fill it up. The frame does not quiet look like painting, nor like a sculpture. It is more like a pixelated graphic image. Ask it’s creator, a Los-Angeles based Indo-American artist Bari Kumar, 46, what does he call it? “Well, cloth construction,” he says. In the city to deliver a talk as part of the Krishnakriti Festival on contemporary art, his work and his method of paintings, Bari Kumar says art in Hyderabad is restricted.
